SEATOA Conference 2011

GROWING & SHARING COMMUNITY NETWORKS
May 8th – 10th 2011
The Hilton Asheville Biltmore Park ~ Asheville, NC

2011 SEATOA CONFERENCE DRAWS OVER 100 ATTENDEES

SEATOA welcomed FCC Commissioner Michael J. Copps as keynote speaker for our May Annual Conference on “Growing & Sharing Community Networks.” The Commissioner’s comments included an emphasis on the importance of community broadband and criticism of efforts to limit municipal broadband development.

The 10th Annual Conference provided a wide array of speakers representing both the public and private sector, including USDA-RUS officials who announced the availability of additional broadband grant funding. PEG sessions centered on the CAP Act, expansion of social/next gen media and marketing to preserve PEG operations. Community Broadband sessions provided success stories in rural cooperatives, developments in public safety interoperable networking and case histories of active community networks.

SEATOA once again web streamed “live” our opening and closing presentations – as well as the PEG sessions – for our members who could not attend. These sessions will be available over the next year via the link indicated below.
